Physical Activity & Exercise Tools

Active Living with Fontan Circulation Toolkit

The Active Living with Fontan Circulation Toolkit is a set of guides for patients and families that emphasizes the importance of physical activity for children with Fontan Circulation. We encourage families to engage with their healthcare providers to select activities that enhance heart health, coordination, and overall well-being.

If you are a healthcare provider, please view the Clinician’s Guide for guidance on using these tools within your care team and recommending tools and activities to patients and families.

Using this Toolkit: For Families

The Active Living with Fontan Circulation Pre-K to Grade School Toolkit was designed to be useful for many years as young individuals with Fontan circulation grow and develop. We currently offer grade school tools and intend to expand to include tools for adults in the near future. Always consult with your child’s medical team before taking on new lifestyle changes.

Since the toolkit has too much information to digest in one reading, we recommend you start by looking at the Toolkit Map below. Each box represents a specific tool in our toolkit- see what jumps out to you. Start there! The rest of the tools will be here as you need them. We hope these tools help you start and continue conversations with your family members, medical team, and community.

The individual tools are available to download below on this page. You may also access the full-length Active Living Toolkit, which contains every tool, here. The Active Living Toolkit is also available in Spanish/Español.
